Update: Water Project Bonus Track!
Early starts continue this week; work expected to finish by July 4
The heat seems to have broken (70° at my house), but Elmer’s will continue 6 a.m. starts this week, said Justin Towle, DPW, this morning. Elmer’s are expected to resume 7 a.m. starts next week. “The noise will continue until the project is done,” Towle said, and that end date is July 4.
As of this morning, he said 5 houses are left to have their new unleaded lines tied in, and new water meters have been installed at all the residences in the project area whose meters weren’t producing readings.
If you have any questions or concerns and can’t get a hold of DPW or the office, feel free to call me and I will try to get answers! 231-399-0098.
In the meantime, here are some photos to add to your scrapbook.

Work begins on Lincoln Avenue tomorrow, Wednesday, June 5
As you may recall, we had money left over after the lead-line replacement and water main upgrades done this past fall, and now we get to make a little more progress toward a Village water system that is unleaded and state-of-the-art.
Per Justin Towle, DPW, Elmer’s will start milling the east side of Lincoln Avenue tomorrow, from Sherman to Sheridan. Traffic may be impeded during working hours, but homeowners should not have trouble accessing their domiciles. (Fingers crossed.) Work will occur on one side of the street only.
The blacked-out areas on the Fleis and VandenBrink map below show the entire project area (consisting of two sections). The white outlined gray area in the second picture, a Google maps screenshot, shows the part that begins tomorrow.
Work is expected to be completed this summer. I will let you know about any shutoffs or boil orders as soon as I hear about them.
Also, watch out for turtles. The big snapper egg-laying push seemed to start Sunday morning. Our Turtlefest signs look swell! Thanks for everyone who came out! Special thanks to Sleeping Bear Wildlife Rehab, who brought their knowledge to the event as well as some visual aids.
If you see any turtles that are laying in the Village and need cones around them, call/text me at 231-399-0098. The official MDOT turtle crossing sign should be coming soon! They have staked it out.

Just a curious resident. I may have missed something. Is the trailer park getting water main upgrades as well?
