Water project work may begin as early as 6 a.m. on Tuesday because of the heat wave we’re currently experiencing.
OK, yeah — it’s a *Northern Michigan* heat wave, with temperatures and humidity expected to send local temperatures vaulting into the mid-80s.
Like everything else, the body’s response to heat is relative, and relatively sudden shifts can prove dangerous when you’re exerting yourself. Elmer’s made the request to DPW and President Wilkins to begin work early tomorrow on behalf of their workers.
So, even though we have a noise ordinance that specifies quiet time between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., the nature of the situation and the importance of the project and concern to accommodate workers’ health needs led Wilkins to make the call.
With apologies for any disruption or inconvenience these early sounds may cause!
