As you may recall, we had money left over after the lead-line replacement and water main upgrades done this past fall, and now we get to make a little more progress toward a Village water system that is unleaded and state-of-the-art.
Per Justin Towle, DPW, Elmer’s will start milling the east side of Lincoln Avenue tomorrow, from Sherman to Sheridan. Traffic may be impeded during working hours, but homeowners should not have trouble accessing their domiciles. (Fingers crossed.) Work will occur on one side of the street only.
The blacked-out areas on the Fleis and VandenBrink map below show the entire project area (consisting of two sections). The white outlined gray area in the second picture, a Google maps screenshot, shows the part that begins tomorrow.
Work is expected to be completed this summer. I will let you know about any shutoffs or boil orders as soon as I hear about them.
Also, watch out for turtles. The big snapper egg-laying push seemed to start Sunday morning. Our Turtlefest signs look swell! Thanks for everyone who came out! Special thanks to Sleeping Bear Wildlife Rehab, who brought their knowledge to the event as well as some visual aids.
If you see any turtles that are laying in the Village and need cones around them, call/text me at 231-399-0098. The official MDOT turtle crossing sign should be coming soon! They have staked it out.
