Pulling tires
Volunteers to clear tires from mouth of Betsie
Per an email from the Benzie Conservation District, the BCD and the Benzie Solid Waste department are seeking volunteers to help pull tires from the bay near the Betsie Valley Trail crossing tomorrow (Wednesday, August 17) from 9 am to noon.
They provided this map of the area they’ll be working on:
“If you are interested in helping us clean up our beautiful waterways please contact John Ransom at john@benziecd.org or 231-882-4391.
“We will have a crew of people in kayaks tying up the tires and a crew pulling and/or winching the tires out from shore. Tires will then be powerwashed and loaded into a trailer for removal.”
Volunteers should bring “drinking water and clothes that you don't mind getting dirty.”
Meet at the Betsie Valley trail head off M-22 in Elberta.
