Well, this one got away from me. It was all queued up in the November council meeting report, which for various reasons is still to come. And somehow I thought I had already sent a notice out on the Village website newsletter, but now it is nowhere to be seen. Hopefully you all saw it in the post office and elsewhere, at least.
Nick and Natalie Crawford of Mayfair Burger Bar have been really stepping up lately to help out the community, especially in Elberta. They provided coffee for the Thanksgiving Leftovers Party on December 1 at the Life Saving Station, and they stayed open later and offered 50 percent off drafts after the first (?) annual Elberta Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and caroling party, which was truly magical as well as freezing cold (read President Wilkins’s heartfelt appreciation of that event). The house-made tater tots at the Burger Bar are a Christmas miracle in themselves.
And now they’re putting their culinary acumen and professional griddle to the test by hosting the annual Frankfort Fire & Safety Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser. This is surely going to be one of the tastiest ones ever, and as the Fire Department continues to expand and improve its staffing, equipment, response times (overall down by 2 minutes and 43 seconds from last year!), and capabilities (possible new EMS life support equipment) to keep us all as safe as possible, you are really getting your silver dollars’ worth by showing them some love and eating some grub tomorrow (!) from 8 am to 12 noon. $18 for adults, $8 for kids under 5.
I was at the Fire Advisory Board meeting on the 12th, so I know that donations are not expected to make up a huge stack of the department’s revenue for this year—so far they’ve received $900, out of total revenues of $339,117.74. But as we all know, especially at this time of year, every little bit counts.
