Mark and Carol Carlin (aka the Replaceables on WUWU 1001.1 100.1 FM), heard the Village was coming up on its 131st birthday and baked it a cake.

They took the cake to the Village office and presented it to Elberta’s deep state, Rachel Perkins (clerk) and Janice Erlewein (treasurer) (more about them soon).
Carol baked the cake, which was chocolate fudge with fluffy vanilla icing and sprinkles. Carol has nice gel frosting penpersonship.
Reached for comment, our fearless appointed officials said: “The office was so surprised and pleased with this recognition of the Village’s special day!”
The office was actually closed today (and tomorrow) for BS&A training.
The Carlins can always be counted on to remember and celebrate the important milestones. Today they dedicated part of their show to former President Jimmy Carter, for whom today we observe a National Day of Mourning.
Elberta is a Capricorn Snake, with an Aquarius Moon. (Its rising sign depends on exactly what time the papers of incorporation were signed, I suppose.) Since the Year of the Snake begins January 29 and Pluto recently departed Capricorn and entered Aquarius, who knows what 2025 will bring.
How are you observing the day? You could sing to our town while washing your hands to prevent the spread of this year’s creeping crud.
Here’s to 131 more years of the ’Berta!
Emily you model civic duty. The most accurate local updates come from. . .accountable local sources and you and WUWU are premiere for that!
I encourage others to reach out to 100.1, WUWU and Elberta to civically support our community.
That's wonderful news! Thanks Carol and Mark! Yummy!
